Discovery Informatics Group

Research team at Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University

Information overload is one of the biggest challenges of the modern knowledge-based economies. We explore how data science and novel AI models can alleviate the problem in domains like healthcare, life sciences, or news analytics.

We focus on:

  • extraction of named entities and relations from unstructured texts,
  • multimodal learning on text,
  • graph and tabular data,
  • Large Language Models (LLMs),
  • biomedical data integration,
  • healthcare recommender systems,
  • clinical decision-support systems.

We also teach courses and supervise theses in areas related to our research, and work various projects together with industrial partners (such as Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute or Newsmatics, Inc.).
